Hi, I am capturing the serial data (more baud rates would be great)… and it works a treat and is very useful to profiling different stages of power usage.
However the serial data is not being stored to the JLS file. So if I want to return to the trace, I seem to be missing the serial data.
I have tried using the “Save to file” of a completed trace as well as the live record (where I ensures serial and channel “0” where selected… However when opening the files, I can see the trace for channel “0”, but no serial data… i.e. the decoded data and ability to select time ranges based on it.
Hi @KK123 - You are not missing anything. As of Joulescope UI 1.3.4 on 2025-05-19, the Serial Console widget functionality is limited. See GPI UART usage request - #2 by mliberty. We do plan to continue adding more functionality to this feature in the future.
Ah OK… it is a great feature. Please keep enhancing it… It is worth me adding a enhancement request for being able to see decoded serial data for JLS files?
HI @KK123 - You are welcome to add enhancement requests to the Joulescope UI on GitHub.
We do have these two items on our internal future feature list:
UI Serial Console: add configurable baud rate, start bit, and stop bit
UI Serial Console widget: support JLS save/load
If you add these to GitHub, then you will get notified when we add it to a project and work on it. As of 2025-05-19, we have other priorities schedule for the next few months that will prevent us from get back to improving the Serial Console widget.
Hi @KK123 - We have not made any progress, and our attention has not been on UI features recently. However, we will be refocusing on host software and the UI around June. This feature is still on our list!
