UI doesn't show waveform after update JS220

Hello,

recently the UI suggested a firmware update for my JS220, besides the regular UI updates. I clicked ok, and after reloading the UI it did seem to work.
I closed everything and since then, I have not been able to see a waveform. I downgraded the UI from 1.3.6 to 1.3.3, but that didn’t help either, still no waveform. The accumulator seems to be working.

Hi @thpk and welcome to the Joulescope forum! Sorry to hear that your Joulescope is not working after the firmware update. If the accumulator and Multimeter widget are still working, then it is possible something got corrupted on the UI side. Can you try reverting to the default settings? Here is how:

  1. Start the Joulescope UI
  2. Select FileClear config and exit
  3. Unplug the USB cable from the JS220 to your host computer
  4. Wait 10 seconds
  5. Reconnect the USB cable from the JS220 to your host computer
  6. Start the Joulescope UI

Any better?

If not, can you look at the LEDs on your JS220. Is the “Sensor Status” illuminated and green?

Hi @mliberty
alas that didn’t work, the multimeter and accumulator are still working, but the waveform still shows a black screen.
The Sensor Status LED is indeed green and illuminated.

The good news is that your JS220 seems to be working correctly. However, I do not know what is happening on the host computer that is causing the problem.

Here are some things to try:

  1. Ensure that your JS220 is connected directly to a USB port on your host computer. Ensure that it is not connected through any USB hubs, docks, or adapters.
  2. If you have an other USB devices connected to the same root hub that may be using a lot of USB communication time (webcams, flash drives, sensors, etc), disconnect them. USB mice and keyboards are fine. Without tools like USBView, knowing which devices are connected to the same USB root hub is not easy.
  3. Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. The UI does use OpenGL, and we have made some changes recently that may affect some PCs, especially older PCs with outdated drivers.
  4. In the Joulescope UI, select HelpReport issue, and we can take a look.

I had this issue as well. I just have to go to widgets and press waveform when I open the oscilloscope and the screen is black. Hope this helps.
